United States Open Tennis Championships or US Open is an international tennis tournament played on hard courts. It is the fourth Grand Slam tournament of the year, after the Australian Open, the French Open and the Wimbledon, which is played over two weeks between late August and early September every year. 

Since 1978,  all the US Open matches have been played on hard courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre in Flushing Meadows, Queens, New York.

This tournament is one of the oldest tennis championships in the world which was originally known as the U.S. National Championship, in which men’s singles and men’s doubles were first played. The US Open is the only Grand Slam that was not affected by World War I, World War II or by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

The US Open Tennis 2023 tournament consists of five primary championships: men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. It also includes senior, junior, and wheelchair players events. 

The US Open is a non-profit organization, owned and organized by the United States Tennis Association (USTA). The chairperson of the US Open is Patrick Galbraith and the head office is at New Work. All revenue collection from ticket sales, sponsorships, and television contracts are used to develop tennis in the United States.
